Samsung Galaxy Note 5 starts getting Android 7.0 Nougat at Sprint

It looks like Sprint is among the first carriers in the United States to offer Samsung Galaxy Note 5 users the highly-anticipated Android 7.0 Nougat update.

Since the Android Nougat global rollout for the Galaxy S7/S7 edge is almost over, it seems that Samsung will be focusing on bringing the update to the next phones on the list: Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6.

Sprint’s move isn’t a total surprise, as the Nougat update for Samsung Galaxy Note 5 had started to pop in various countries. Also, Samsung promised the phablet would be getting Android 7.0 Nougat in the first half of the year.

So, if you’ve purchased your Samsung Galaxy Note 5 from Sprint, then you should check for a relatively sizeable update (1.4GB). It’s also worth noting the update contains the March security patch, which is probably the last released by Samsung.

Google has already made available the April security patch to its Nexus and Pixel devices, but other Android OEMs have yet to release it.

We expect other carriers to start pushing the Android 7.0 Nougat update to the Samsung Galaxy Note 5 soon, but we don’t have a timeline yet.
