US F-16 military fighter jet crashes in Maryland forcing pilot to parachute out


A “loud boom” was heard as an F-16 jet plane crashed into woodland, local reports say.

The pilot escaped using a parachute and is said to have non life-threatening injuries after being found by first responders.

The plane reportedly went down about two miles south of Joint Base Andrews in Clinton, Maryland, USA, nbcwashington reports.

A man driving nearby said he saw flames and smoke rising from the ground and heard “a loud boom”.

He said it sounded like a tree had fallen, causing the ground to shake.

Prince George’s County Fire Officials are investigating the military plane crash this morning, mynews4 reports.
