Stephenson sparks scuffle with meaningless layup

Oh, it’s so great to have Lance Stephenson back in the NBA.

He needed just one game to make an entire team angry.

Late in the Pacers’ 108-90 blowout win over the Toronto Raptors on Tuesday, Stephenson went uncontested to the basket for a layup rather than letting time wind down. The Raptors were not happy.

A scuffle broke out at midcourt, and Stephenson walked away as officials tried to separate the two teams. No punches were thrown, but tempers definitely flared.

Of course, it would have been better sportsmanship for Stephenson to let time expire, but that’s not how he operates. The dude is unapologetically good at getting under an opponent’s skin.

That hasn’t changed.

Update: Stephenson apologized after the game.
