People think Donald Trump gave Australian Prime Minister the finger during ‘heated’ phone call


    The new US President has been in office for less than a fortnight and already there are reports of him having heated discussions with other world leaders.

    Trump reportedly hung up on Australian Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull after a debate about a refugee deal the country made with President Obama, according to The Washington Post.

    A photograph taken during the phone call, shared by the official White House Twitter account, at first seems fairly innocent – but Twitter users think they’ve spotted something funny about it.

    The black and white picture shows Trump sitting at his desk in the Oval Office on the phone while several of his staff members sit around listening intently.

    But social media users have been zooming in on Trump’s hand – and they think he appears to be raising his middle finger in a rude gesture.

    Some have speculated that he was doing it on purpose.

    Perhaps he just likes to hold the phone that way for maximum support?

    Or the camera caught him at a bad angle?

    Turnbull insisted Trump had not hung up on him, and that the call ended “cordially”.

    The Washington Post claimed Trump blasted his counterpart Malcolm Turnbull over his insistence that the US stand by a refugee swap deal agreed with Barack Obama.

    Trump cut the call short after just 25 minutes even though it was scheduled for an hour, the Post claimed.

    The President had spoken pleasantly with other leaders including Vladimir Putin but described his call with Turnbull as “the worst so far’, it was claimed.
